Ray Allen Has Absolutely No Reason To Come Back

If you have been following the NBA at all this summer, you have seen at least one tweet or article pertaining to Ray Allen. Even if you haven't, and you have a Twitter account, you've still probably seen it.
Sources are saying that Ray Allen is in contact with the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Per ESPN,
"Ray Allen, one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, is considering making a comeback, according to league sources.
Allen's representatives recently reached out to the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, sources told ESPN, about the possibility of Allen joining the two conference champions.
The Warriors are unsure whether they want to pursue the future Hall of Famer, sources said. Allen's contact with the Cavs was first reported by Cleveland.com.
Allen, who will turn 41 on July 20, is also not absolutely sure he wants to return after sitting out the past two seasons. But he is intrigued by the possibility of playing for another championship, and in addition to the Warriors and Cavs, he would consider joining the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers, sources said."
Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy in every form: Ray-Ray, Jesus Shuttlesworth, the Deep Corner Assassin… but what the hell are you doing?!
First off, can you make it any more obvious that you are just trying to do the bare minimum to win another ring? I mean what exactly can Allen bring to either of these teams? 10-15 minutes a game with maybe 3 or 4 open shots from the corner is all I can come up with. Don’t get me wrong, though - if Jerry West called me and told he will give me the veteran minimum to throw up some prayers and play below average defense I would pack my bags and be on my way to the Bay Area faster than Bill Cosby could put your girl to sleep. However, I am just a mere mortal whose peak basketball accomplishments were playing for a JUCO that my high school team could beat. (Yeah, my high school team was really damn good)
Ray Allen has nothing else to prove. Say he does sign with GSW or Cleveland in a few days – is anyone ACTUALLY going to give him credit for joining up with 2 teams that will probably already be in the finals anyway? Hell no. He is just going to be the “Old Guy” who can make the occasional three. He will, undoubtedly, be the 2016 Channing Frye. Sure, when Channing hits a few threes people loved him but was it internet-breaking news when he barely played at all in the NBA Finals? Hell no x 2.
That will be Ray Allen. Ray Allen doesn’t want to be Channing Frye and I don’t think we, as fans of Jesus Shuttlesworth, want to see him play that type of role on a team. He will be the equivalent of the senior on every high school team that never gets to play but on senior night everyone is going bat shit crazy because he gets some playing time.
There should be no reason that a player of Allen’s status, with his legacy, should want to return to the NBA to simply be a garbage player.
With that being said my advice to Ray Allen is simple: STAY RETIRED! Be remembered the corner three that saved LeBron James (and the rest of the team, but most importantly LeBron) in the 2013 NBA Finals. Don’t be remembered as the high school senior who only got to play on senior night or when the team is up/down 30. I admire your game. I respect your game. Please don’t ruin that for me. Don’t be that guy.
